[Indiana US Senator Dan Coats]
In a return volley of sanctions following Russia's annexation of Crimea, an Indiana US Senator finds himself banned from Russia. Republican Dan Coats is among six members of Congress, including House Speaker John Boehner, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Republican Senator John McCain, and three White House aides in a travel ban announced by the Russian government Thursday, in response to a new round of American sanctions that included several Russian officials and a Russian bank. Coats tweeted, “While I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to go on vacation with my family in Siberia this summer, I am honored to be on this list.” Coats added, “Putin’s recent aggression is unacceptable, and America must join with our European allies to isolate and punish Russia. I will continue to lead efforts on Capitol Hill to bring Putin to his senses.” On Twitter, you'll also find hashtag #SanctionedByPutin.
