Ag Organizations and Gov. to Celebrate Nat'l Ag Day

It may be National Ag Day on Tuesday, March 25th,  but the Hoosier state is honoring it as Indiana Family of Farmers' 2014 Ag Day.
According to a release from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Ted McKinney, Director of the State Department of Agriculture will give opening remarks at a celebration at the Robert Orr Plaza in Indy.
Following the program, attendees are invited to enjoy lunch at 12 local food trucks parked outside.
What:           Indiana Family of Farmers’ 2014 Ag Day.  March 25 marks National Ag Day, an event established by the Agriculture Council of America to celebrate American agriculture.
Who:            Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Ted McKinney will offer opening remarks to kick-off the 2014 Indiana Ag Day.
Where:         Robert Orr Plaza*
When:          March 25, 2014 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
*In the event of inclement weather, the Ag Day program will be held on the second floor of the Statehouse. 
ABOUT ISDA
The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) was established as a separate state agency by the Legislature in 2005.  The Director is appointed by the Governor and is a member of the Governor’s Cabinet.  Administratively, ISDA reports to Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, who also serves as Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture.  Major responsibilities include advocacy for Indiana agriculture at the local, state and federal level, managing soil conservation programs, promoting economic development and agricultural innovation, serving as a regulatory ombudsman for agricultural businesses, and licensing grain firms throughout the state.
