A local teenager was hospitalized after being taken into custody on a South Shore train in Lake County Friday morning. Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation Police Chief Robert Byrd reports shortly before 10 am, passengers alerted the conductor to a person trying to set fire to a train seat with a cigarette lighter. NICTD Transit Police responded to the train that was stopped at the East Chicago station and took a 17-year-old male into custody.
