Lowell Master Trooper Detective Retiring After 34 Yrs

After more than three-decades of service, Detective Stan Marovich with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Indiana State Police in Lowell is retiring. During Marovich’s thirty-four years he was also a Field Training Officer, Distinguished Expert Marksman, obtained a million miles crash free behind the wheel of a car, and served seven governors beginning with Governor Otis Bowen and ending with Governor Mike Pence as part of governor security when they came to Northwest Indiana. Marovich was born in Gary and raised in Merrillville where he was a 1973 graduate of Merrillville High School. He graduated Indiana University Northwest with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Marovich graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December, 1979 and was assigned to the Lowell District where he patrolled Lake County for ten years until 1989 when he was assigned to Operations Bar Tab Task Force and later Operation Lights Out with the FBI, IRS and U.S. Attorney’s Office. In 2000, Marovich was assigned permanently to the Public Corruption Task Force with the FBI until he retired. Marovich after retiring from the Indiana State Police is currently working with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).
