The City of Hobart is establishing a ten-year comprehensive plan from 2015 through 2025 to develop initiatives and polices is asking its residents for their input. City Planner Sergio Mendoza told the Region News Team six sessions have been scheduled to take place at the Hobart Community Center, at 111 Old Ridge Road.
1. Visioning Session May 29, 2014 Thursday 6-8pm
Attendees will be given individual key pads and asked to vote on a series of questions which will be used to create a shared outlook narrative for how the community envisions itself by 2025.
2. Land Use Session June 2, 2014 Monday 6-8pm
Participants will learn about the city’s current use of land distribution and the changes which have occurred over the years. Then they will be asked to forecast desired changes which will be used to accommodate future land uses through zoning requests.
3. Parks & Recreation Session June 9, 2014 Monday 6-8pm
Residents will experience park board procedures and current status of park facilities followed by table discussions surrounding demand assessments and enhancement opportunities for current and next generation park users.
4. Natural Resources/Environment Session June 16, 2014 Monday 6-8pm
Participantswill assist inidentifying critical and sensitive areas for protection in the city. Such areas for considerations may include water bodies and ecological habitat corridors which may be safeguarded and incentivized for the future.
5. Transportation Session June 23, 2014 Monday 6-8pm
Attendeeswill be informed of current traffic circulation and thoroughfare plan, including existing and committed facilities. Attendees will then be asked to provide future needs which will adequately serve and improve the performance for a variety of transportation opportunities.
6. Findings Session July 21, 2014 Monday 6-8pm
Analysis of data collected from surveys, table discussions and mapping exercise from the public input planning sessions 1-5 will be presented to the audience. Data presented will be used to meet the objectives of the city’s comprehensive plan.
