Northern Porter County (photo from Leigh @ISawIt at our website)
The latest U-S Drought Monitor released today shows worsening conditions in Indiana... though Northwest Indiana has still been seeing more rain than most of the state. 99-percent of Indiana is now considered in a drought, about a third categorized as"extreme", and those are three distinct areas in northeast/northcentral, central and southwestern parts of the state. Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper Counties are now in moderate drought, with most of Starke County and a small area in far southeastern LaPorte County labeled as "severe".
