The drought's been difficult on farmers, but another consequence of the dry weather has been roadwork ahead of schedule in Valparaiso, where we're told that's the case with the new overpass going up at State Road 49 and Vale Park. Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Stu Summers also Thursday gave us an update on some other local projects... he says the pathway on silhavy drive from Vale Park south to the railroad tracks was finishing up this week, crews will begin milling downtown Jefferson Street today (July 13) and will do paving Monday and Tuesday of next week, weather permitting, then apply new striping and change it over from a two-lane street to a one traffic lane and one bike lane, and activate new traffic signals at Morgan and Jefferson near the Valparaiso Public Library to make it safer to turn off of Jefferson onto Morgan Boulevard.
