A revised plan for widening Burlington Beach Road between State Road 49 and Calumet in Valparaiso will be presented next month, after residents expressed a number of concerns about losing land in the process. Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Stuart Summers says the project will be more focused on the intersection and will no longer require acquiring as much property, instead improving the road within the existing rights-of-way. Summers says about a dozen residents came out to the recent meeting to hear the presentation on Burlington Beach, and the overwhelming response was a simple "thank you" for the new designs City Engineer Tim Burkman came up with. Summers says there will be some land required at the intersections, mostly commercial properties. Work is expected to begin in 2014.
