One juvenile is in custody with more arrests expected following an alleged attempted armed robbery Thursday afternoon at a park on the south end of Michigan City. Police say at around 1:00 p.m. dispatch received a call of shots fired near Adam's Park. After flagging down one of the responding officers the victim told the officer he was walking in the area when two male subjects approached him and after a brief conversation one of the subjects pulled out a gun and demanded his money. The victim said he then lunged at the gunman causing him to back up then after a short chase the victim said he encountered four male subjects with one of them pulling a second gun. Realizing he was outnumbered, the victim said he turned to flee as shots fired behind him with none hitting him. Police say two suspects matching the victim's description were soon spotted at a nearby apartment complex with one of the suspects fleeing and the other, a juvenile, found hiding under a bed. Police found a gun in the apartment and a firearm was also located during the search for the suspect who fled and was placed into evidence. The minor suspect was charged with attempted robbery and resisting law enforcement.
