Baseball Sized Hail Reported Newton Co.

Around 7 p.m. this evening, severe thunderstorms moved through southern portions of northwest Indiana causing heavy downpours and hail
in Newton County and southwestern Jasper Counties.  In addition, the National Weather Service said the public reported a tornado on the ground between Enos and Morrocco.  As a result, a tornado warning was issued for southwestern Jasper and Newton counties at around 6:55pm and was allowed to expire at 7:45 pm.  The weather service did not receive any reports of injuries or damage however a trained spotter reported golf ball and baseball hail was falling in Morocco at 6:52 p.m.  The Weather Center forecast is calling for occassional showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall tonight with a low around 63 degrees.  Additionally, the National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 2 a.m. CDT Friday.
