In West Lafayette, Purdue Student Government will hold a memorial service for Armstrong this afternoon [ 5:30 p.m. EDT Monday (Aug. 27)] at the Armstrong statue in front of Neil A. Armstrong Hall of Engineering. University officials add that Armstrong was a huge football fan, citing that as one of the reasons he chose Purdue... and they noted that Armstrong played the baritone horn in the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band in 1952.
