A Merrillville doctor accused of 22 counts of defrauding health insurance companies, and a labor union health and welfare fund, by billing insurance companies for procedures he did not actually perform was sentenced Friday. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Hammond reports Chief Judge Philip Simon sentenced 49 year old Mark Weinberger to seven years in prison, with two years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay approximately 108-thousand dollars in restitution.
