A lightning strike reportedly caused a structure fire at a condominium in the 200 block of West Joliet Street. The fire caused Joliet, from the junction to US 30, to be closed off to traffic for much of early afternoon and into the evening hours. The Times reports the fire began around 3pm at the complex, which houses 24 units, and that a total of 31 residents were displaced, after lightning struck the roof, destroying the second and third floors.
