Some Repairs Could Take Through Thursday

As of early this morning, 13-thousand customers across NIPSCO's service territory remained without electricity after storms this week and the utility company says some repairs may not be complete until tomorrow due to extensive damage, and additional storms may delay restoration efforts. That number has since gone up to nearly 16,000 throughout this morning as storms again moved across the Region. NIPSCO field and contracted personnel have restored more than 75 percent of the 87-thousand electric customers who lost power in Monday's severe storms that produced wind gusts in excess of over 80 miles-per-hour damaged more than 50 utility poles, downed electric wire and caused other severe electric distribution system damage.
