Hobart Shelter Concerned

The Humane Society of Hobart says they can no longer afford to house strays from the city of Portage. A board member at the Hobart shelter sent a letter to Portage saying Hobart's facility on State Road 130 cannot continue “indefinitely” with what was supposed to be a temporary arrangement with Portage that's lasted for several years. Portage officials, in turn, are urging Porter County to move forward on a proposal to build a new county animal shelter that they could become part of.
