How Shutdown Would Impact IN Dunes Nat Lakeshore

The threat of a federal government shutdown could soon become a reality, and if so, that means the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore would have to close its doors as well. Public Information Officer Bruce Rowe says a government shutdown would mean their visitor facilities, services, beach areas, trails would all close and no longer be available to the public. Also those at Dunewood Campground would be given 48 hours notice to vacate.
Rowe says if the government shutdown occurs and then starts back up again, the length of the shutdown itself would determine how long it would take to prepare things to then reopen facilities and services. House Republicans have refused to pass a budget unless President Obama's Affordable Care Act is delayed for a year.
