Man Found Guilty in Lake County Murder

In Lake County, a jury has convicted a Gary man in the death of a Griffith woman. 40-year-old Robert Lewis the third was found guilty of charges that included murder and murder during the perpetration of criminal deviate conduct. In April 2011, authorities say 37-year-old Jennifer Kocsis, a former music and special education teacher in Hammond and Whiting, gave Lewis a ride from a restaurant. Her body was found by schoolchildren the next morning behind the former Riley Elementary School building at 43rd and Ohio Street in Gary.
