State Panel Forwards New Grading System

A State Board of Education panel has assembled and forwarded a new model for grading Hoosier schools that would look at test score improvement and performance. A vote by the state board is expected next month. The proposal keeps the A-through-F letter grades. The panel is also recommending new state reading tests for the first, second, ninth and eleventh grades. In April, the General Assembly ordered the state board to come up with a new formula by November 15th of this year after complaints about the current one.
