Annie was born and raised in Northwest Indiana with her younger sister and parents in Hammond. After spending some time out of the area chasing the radio dream she has moved back to start a family with her two main men: Jager the mutt and fiance Rob. When she is not on the air Annie enjoys cheering her favorite Chicago sports teams (Da Bears, Da Bulls, And Da Sox), hiking, and exploring new fairs and festivals! (Anything Deep Fried she's in!) Annie cannot wait to share her life with you on air and is excited to be back in the Region doing what she loves!
I gave myself this pep talk as I rolled outta bed Monday morning:
“Move Over Lazy And Unfocused Annie... List Made, Deadline Feb 1st. Consider This A Friendly Warning.”
Time to get back on track in the new year! It's Only Taken 2 Months, But Wedding/House Planning Is About To Get Blown Outta Here!!! Do you ever catch yourself doing this Sometimes, I just need a good smack to get back in action! I'll be the first to admit, I have completely ignored wedding planning since November! House hunting just took a lot longer than expected!
Anyway, started getting things crossed off the list already this week:
- Met with our baker... cake is squared away.
- Blocked out rooms at a hotel for the wedding guests.
- Homeowner's insurance signed on the dotted line.
- Joined The Y to get into wedding shape.
- Made wedding shower invites.
- Started wedding website.
And that is only in day one... imagine where the rest of the month will take me! I'll make sure to keep ya posted!
2012... what a year!
I started the year frustrated. Felt trapped in my job, sick of being so far away from home, tired of arguing over distance with Rob... then 2012 held so many great surprises. Got engaged, a month later got this position, and then moved back in with my parents! Now Rob and I are starting 2013 with our very own home and getting ready to begin our lives as one June 1st! More proof that life has a funny way of working itself out with a little good luck and a lot of hard work!
As we end the year, just wanted to say thank you for welcoming me to The Z this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the emails and phonecalls! I feel like you are part of my extended family and cannot wait to share everything 2013 will bring. Have fun tonight and stay safe!!!
Remember at the stroke of midnight comes a brand new beginning... you can be anything in 2013!!! (Hey I Know I'm Corny!)
The Whiting Elks club had another successful Christmas Dinner thanks in part to its numerous volunteers who showed up to serve on Christmas Day! (I just feel thankful I got to be a part of it!!!) More than a hundred sailors from the Great Lakes Naval Academy enjoyed food and entertainment in their home away from home yesterday. Many enjoyed phone calls home and spent time checking their Facebook on computers! (They aren't allowed phones/computers while in bootcamp) Could you last that long without those conveniences? I know I couldn't!!!
It was heartwarming to see how thankful this young men and women were just for a break from their "chow". It was amazing how young they all were, yet so mature! Some had young children and wives at home, some just wanted to talk to mom and dad. Either way it was a nice break from seeing all the negativity in the news! A big thanks to everyone who volunteered their time on Christmas! It is the season of giving you know!!! Hope your holiday was just as amazing as mine!
Oh and congratulations to all the sailors on their graduation this week!!!
We've made it to Christmas!!! Is it me or does it just not feel like it? Time has absolutely flown by this year!!! One thing I definitely don't miss this year is HOLIDAY DRIVING!!! This is the first time in almost 10 years I have to do ZERO driving!!! If you are heading out this holiday season, please be careful!!!
I cannot wait to get our crazy holiday traditions underway! In my house Christmas Eve always means Long John Silvers fish, pierogis, and crapes! I don't know how the tradition got started, but I LOVE it!!! We also all get together and open our gifts Christmas eve... I always try to be the last one to open a gift! (It's a competition with my sister!)
Christmas Day we check out stockings and scratch our Lottery tickets Santa's left us!!! Then it's more eating and family! Christmas night we always gathered by my Aunt's house and Santa would visit with gifts and a pinata for all of us kids to hit! Now that we're older my cousin has taken over the party with good fun and drinks! What are your holiday traditions?
Anyway, I just wanted to take a brief moment this morning to thank you for being part of my family this year! I hope you have had as much fun as I have the past nine months!!! I am one lucky girl to be here with you sharing my life and getting paid for it!!! Blessed is the only word that comes to mind.
Feeling Blessed This Morning! Had My Tire Blow Out On The Way To Work, Luckily It Was Two Blocks From My House And Not On 80/94!!! Gunna Be A Messy Day On The Roads... PLEASE Be Careful And Take Your Time!!!
Here are some driving tips for inclement weather:
1) only use cruise control on dry surfaces, 2) if you lose traction gradually slow down, do not slam on the brakes, 3) use caution when driving on bridges and ramps, frost forms on these surfaces first, 4) be careful when approaching shaded areas, this is the last place for ice and snow to melt.
Many also neglect to prepare their vehicle for the season. Check the tread on your tires. Check the windshield wipers for cracks and wear, and fill your windshield fluid reservoir. Keep your gas tank at least half full to prevent water build up that can freeze the line and to ensure you have enough gas for heat if you are stranded. Check your lights and drive with them on during dayli...ght hours in fog or precipitation.
