Hobart Police Chief Jeff White says the dry conditions, coupled with the heat, will keep the crowd back a bit further from this year's city fireworks display on the 4th of July.   Chief White says no vehicles will be allowed to park within Festival Park itself, and no spectators will be permitted beyond the south curb of Old Ridge Road, which is the northern border of the park. Both the east and west lots of the Rugby Field will be open for parking, but occupants will not be allowed to stay with the vehicles to watch the show.  All spectators will be required to be south of Old Ridge Road, within Festival Park itself.

Additionally, the Hobart Fire Department will be "wetting down" a substantial area as a precaution.  Officials say elderly and handicapped spectators may be dropped off at the Festival Park Foundation while their drivers find parking. The display usually begins around 9:30 pm.
