Lake County Sheriffs Police today announced the caretaker for four recently-rescued horses is in need of certain items: saw dust, grain, and hay -- they're also looking for a farrier -- a specialist in equine hoof care. Anyone willing to donate or assist with these needs is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Animal Control & Adoption Center in Crown Point (at 219-769-7016). On July 10th, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Posse unit took in four horses in the area of State Road 2 and State Line Road in Lowell who'd been turned loose by unknown individuals. The horses are now being fostered at a local farm.
