Three Generations, One Clinic

Clients of McAfee Animal Hospital from 1943 to the present, and the general public, are invited to the hospital's open house today (Saturday July 28). Dr. Larry McAfee says the facility was started by his father in the early forties. Dr. Larry McAfee came back in 1975, and his daughter, Dr. Brooke McAfee, started at the practice a year ago. Dr. Steve Violanti joined the practice as a partner in 1990. About four years ago the hospital moved to a new location about a mile away, to the east, at 651 Eastport Center Drive.

Dr McAfee says he'll be semi-retiring in the next year or two, he'll be at the clinic five days a month. Dr McAfee has been active in the community, he's among the many veterinarians who worked together to make the emergency veterinary clinic at Purdue North Central in Westville a reality about dozen years ago. Dr. McAfee is also an emeritus member of the Porter County Wildlife Management Advisory Board.

Today's open house is 1 to 4, pets invited. The event will feature Valparaiso Police K-9 demonstrations, facility tours, and Woof Studios will be there taking photos that'll help out the Porter County Animal Shelter.
