2 are dead due to blunt force trauma after a 2 vehicle crash on the Indiana Toll Road this morning. LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan says 51 year old Daniel J. Miller, of Heston, Indiana, a 16 year veteran of the Indiana Toll Road’s Maintenance Department, was pronounced dead at the scene, near mile marker 40, by Holmesville Road, near Michigan City. Sullivan says Miller was stepping out the passenger side of a maintenance vehicle, just before 10:30, when he was struck by a westbound S-U-V. Sullivan says the driver of the S-U-V was pinned in and had to be extracted by the Westville fire department, and was airlifted to a Sound Bend hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle Miller was in was taken to St. Anthony's in Michigan City for non-life threatening injuries. At last check one lane of traffic in each direction of the toll road was open.
