A Valparaiso woman faces two felony charges for allegedly stabbing a Center Township man. Sgt. Larry La Flower, public information officer of the Porter County Sheriff's Department said on Tuesday, sheriff's police initially responded to a report of a car in a ditch. Published reports say the 64-year-old victim told police he was checking his mail outside his home in the 1900 block of Crescent Rd. when he was approached by the woman he did not know, who apparently was involved in the accident, asking to use his phone. Sgt. LaFlower says the man let the woman into his kitchen to use the phone where as she was leaving, reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbing him in the chest which led to a struggle. Reports say when officers arrived at the home they found the man had been stabbed in the chest with abrasions to his hand and face. Police later found the suspect walking nearby and placed her in custody. La Flower says a blood and urine test on the suspect found cocaine and marijuana in her system. The victim is in an intensive unit of a local hospital in stable condition after surgery to repair damage near his heart.
