2012 Summer Games gold medalist, Gabrielle Douglas along with her mother, Natalie Hawkins were honored at a Mother/Daughter Luncheon Monday afternoon at the Moraine Student Center on the campus of I-U Northwest, presented by the Barden Gary Foundation along with its partners including Blackademically Speaking, Indiana University, the Foundations of East Chicago and the City of Gary.   The event also signaled the kick off of the Barden Gary Foundation scholarship program for the 2012-2013 school year.  A select group of students from Wirt, West Side, Lew Wallace, Thea Bowman, Theodore Roosevelt and Calumet high schools were invited to attend the luncheon.   On Monday evening, the Gary Chamber of Commerce hosted an "Evening With Olympian Gabrielle Douglas" at the Genesis Convention Center.  The tribute included dinner plus appearances and presentations.
