A 19 year old from Griffith has been charged with four felony counts regarding an alleged robbery and carjacking of an elderly man last month. Highland Police report Deonta Brown is one of two individuals responsible for the incident that took place on September 19, on the 38-hundredth block of Wicker Avenue, in which an elderly man was reportedly forced to the ground at gunpoint, and cash and credit cards, as well as his grey 2011 Ford Explorer, with an Indiana handicapped license plate, were taken. Police say Brown is charged with armed robbery, carjacking, criminal confinement, and auto theft, and is currently being held in custody in Cook County on an unrelated charge and awaiting extradition. Authorities say investigators are actively pursuing charges on the second suspect.
