Officials in Lake County continue to discuss the mandated E-911 consolidation. The latest proposal unveiled Thursday would have one E-911 center for the county's nearly twenty cities and towns and unincorporated areas operate out of a meeting room and current health department offices in the Lake County Government Complex in Crown Point. This according to a report in the Times today. There was also a proposal for using a city building in East Chicago. Earlier talks had looked at putting centers in Hobart and East Chicago. The state is requiring every county to consolidate E-911 dispatch operations by the end of 2014 to no more than two or risk losing state funds.
