A Gary man was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Monday for reckless homicide, more than 14 years after the incident took place. The Lake County Prosecutor's Office reports 32 year old Samuel Fabela pled guilty to the reduced charge in late October. Prosecutor Bernard Carter says on February 8^th of 1998, Fabela met with the victim, Jeremy Hubbard, in an alley in Gary to purchase drugs, when the two began arguing, which led to Fabela firing a shot which killed Hubbard.
