The public is invited to the official grand opening of the Marquette Park Pavilion next week in Gary. City officials say the pavilion is one of the newest community development projects, and is part of the estimated 28-million dollar restoration of Marquette Park, funded by the Regional Development Authority. Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson says the park is one of the city's “crown jewels”, and they are excited to re-introduce it to the community. Festivities will be held on Thursday, December 13^th, from 9am to 5pm, and include tours, food, and holiday shopping with various vendors.
